Do you struggle with body shame, weight stigma, or disordered eating? Are you interested in healing your relationship with your body and food? Do you want to feel like you are enough, just as you are?
Then this group may be for you!
Join Keri Johnson, PhD, LMHC, CDWF, E-RYT and Liz Getman, MA, E-RYT on Saturday, Feb. 23 from 2-5 p.m. for a wholehearted, trauma-informed, and mindfulness-based group approach to eating disorder recovery. Rooted in Dr. Brené Brown’s research on authenticity, vulnerability, courage, and shame resilience, our session will be broken down into three parts: education, group discussion, and tools to aid our continued healing. An opening cacao ceremony will help to create an intentional and safe group environment in which to consider or “rumble” with our personal experiences re: body, weight, and size. All participants will receive a list of tools, resources, and community referrals at the close of the workshop.
Our group will explore the reckoning, rumble, and revolution regarding our body shame stories:
RECKONING: Walking into our stories to increase awareness of the prevalence and impact of beliefs and behaviors on the spectrum of disordered eating
RUMBLING: Owning our stories and defining weight stigma and size discrimination and their impact on our health and well-being; developing a critical awareness of diet culture
REVOLUTION: Writing a new ending and: examining definitions of health through the principles of Health At Every Size™; identifying parallels through Brené Brown’s work and Intuitive Eating approaches; providing strategies to help individuals close the gap between their values, beliefs, behaviors, and culture around body weight and health
